Year 1B. Last week 1B learnt all about the letter S. We have been having a great time writing adventures for a naughty monster called Doren. 1B enjoyed finding out how tall we are and have learnt how to be body smart. ( Campbell MacCorquodale)

February 24th
Year 1A have been learning about brains. We have also been having fun going swimming with 3A. (Ella Scanlon)

Year 1B this week has learnt about volume. We got to do an experiment using different sized containers like a bucket, a small yoghurt container and some other sizesd containers. We made colour wheel and got to mix primary colours to make purple, orange and green. We learnt the letter ‘M’ and we started literacy groups. We had lots of fun! ( Campbell MacCorquodale)

3rd March

Year 1B this week learnt about the letter ‘T’. We learnt all about being nature smart. We practised our numbers and worked out what came in 2’s, 3’s and 4’s. The expert artists in 1B drew portraits of themselves and painted them all different colours. ( Campbell MacCorquodale)

Year 1C learnt about telling the time through listening to Time Stories, making a large Grandfather clock, and making our own individual clocks. We acted out Humpty Dumpty, played Number Bingo in Maths Groups and learnt about how to say words with a “y” at the end. (Bella Cooper)

10th MArch

B learnt all about numbers last week! ‘N’ was the letter of the week We found out about Roman Numerals and about analogue and digital clocks. We even read stories about time. In Art we got to make hot air balloons. It was a great week. ( Campbell MacCorquodale)

24th March

1A have been learning about numbers. We have also been learning about the letters “T”, “S”, and “I”. We have been measuring snakes and learning about the time. Ella Scanlon

1B played some alphabet games with Miss Hamill and Mrs Kahl. We looked at letters and sounds. We learnt all about the letter W. Words like wind, watermelon and walrus all start with W. Our handwriting books have been started and we all have beautiful pencil grips. The best part about last week was having our water party! Campbell MacCorquodale

1C finished their Papier Mache. In maths we are measuring our height and other things around the classroom. Next week we have decided to have a Teddy Bears Picnic. Bella Cooper.

31st march

1A has been exercising for the Move and Groove Program. We continue to study the letters “T”, “S” and “I”. We have also enjoyed doing Tanagrams. Ella Scanlon

1B learned the letter P and we did Moove and Groove with Jacob’s Dad and my Mum. We did 3 to 10 space monsters and planned our brain models. We have got our pencil cases and have started swimming breaststroke. Have a good week. Campbell MacCorquodale

1C had our Teddy Bears Picnic. We played games with our teddies and ate Teddy bear biscuits. In Art we did still life paintings of our teddies and we also wrote about our teddies. Bella Cooper

April

1A have been learning about things in Nature, such as plants and animals. We have also been learning about the letter “R”. Ella Scanlon

 

12th May

r 1B. If you go into 1B this week, you will think you are in a rainforest. We painted a backdrop with blue and green and stuck on bark and our colourful leaves to make a humungous rainforest tree. Our Mums got our handmade cards with love xxx. We learnt the blend “bl” which makes the words “blue” and “bling” a lot easier…. not to mention “bluebottles”. ( Campbell MacCorquodale)

 

26th May

1A have been practising our letters and we have also been practising our odds and evens. Ella Scanlon

1B had a bit of a crazy week! Our classroom was flooded and we had to work in the Library for the rest of the week! We worked towards a reward, by being perfect little year Ones. Miss Hamill had to colour in all our Stars. We practised our adding and subtractions and we worked hard to create our best sentences. Campbell MacCorquodale

1C in Maths Groups did some adding on activities. In P.E. we played ‘Stuck in the Mud’. Isabella Cooper

 

2nd June

1B played ‘Heads Down, Thumbs Up’ on Monday. We have also been making things that equal. Like 12 = 12. Ella Scanlon

16th June

1A played a “Guess Who” Game, and the answers had to be numbers. In Religion we watched a movie all about “ZAC”. Ella Scanlon

1B is still making a rainforest. This time we used materials from outside to make our trees and bushes. In Maths we have been learning about directions, and have made Pirate Maps. We got to dip them in coffee to make the paper look old. Campbell MacCorquodale

 

23rd June

1A have been painting pictures of nature and also have been drawing and writing in our journal. (Ella Scanlon)

21st July

1B started the term in the rainforest. We ate beans from the garden outside the classroom. In Maths, we added 17 pens – 3 red pens and 6 blue pens… How many green pens were there? On Friday we were in the Library because our carpet in the classroom was being replaced. Emily Pell

1st September

1B continued to learn about our Mini-beast and we have started researching our own bugs. In Art we made flowers for the Fete and we painted white sheets of paper black and put gold and silver glitter all over them. In Maths we practised number patterns and pathways. (Emily Pell)

1C made mini-beasts out of boxes, straws and pipe-cleaners. In Maths we practised ‘estimating’ using Smarties. (Matthew Theisen)

8th September

1A learnt about Mini-Beasts. We learnt that they have a head, a thorax, and an abdomen. Some examples of Mini-Beasts are ants, bees and caterpillars. (Angus McNeill)

15th September

1B made more Eric Carle bugs in Art and we worked out what we will need for our Class Party. We learned the blend ‘sn’ and found heaps of words using it. We got to play Literacy games on the computers. It was fun! Have a great week! (Emily Pell)

1C followed instructions on how to make our own mini-beasts. In Maths we drew a big number line on the ground and we practised our sums. (Matthew Theisen)

 

27th Ocotber

1B did 3 science experiments. We made volcanoes, tested jelly beans and found out how milk can be magic. In Art we made a 1B science sign using paper that we made last week. We have been having lots of fun doing science experiments and are looking forward to doing more on Wednesday. (Emily Pell)

1C did ceramics. We each made a Christmas decoration out of pottery. During Science we did a flower experiment. (Matthew Theisen)
