Much media space is taken up with the various activities such as the Internet/MSN, messaging/Texting. Sometimes these can be issues of security and you may think ‘what is my child doing or seeing on these modes of communication?’

The following are 5 handy tips for Parents to consider in relation to Internet usage:

§        Negotiate an online contract – (how long and when they can use it)

§       Ensure the computer is in a public space – so everyone can see what is going on.

§        Shoulder Surf!! Monitor and supervise what is going on.

§       Use non verbal management strategies when these conditions are broken – e.g. turn off the computer/ disconnect the modem!!
